What’s the purpose of a 5 disc DVD changer?

I recently purchased a 42″ flat screen TV that I will be bringing home for Christmas as a gift to the house and I was thinking about upgrading my other equipment. I currently have a JVC DVD player and a Panasonic 5.1 850 watt surround system and neither of them are HD compatible. I was looking into buying a brand new DVD player and surround sound but I’m not finding anything I like. My current system has two front tower speakers that I want to keep the same style. I’d like to have wireless rear speakers too, which I don’t have right now. I found a nice Panasonic system with the tower speakes and wireless rear speakers but it has one feature I’m not sure I want to pay for. It comes with an iPod dock and a 5 disc DVD / CD changer. I have an iPod but I really don’t use it that much so the iPod dock would be a waste to me. I’d never use it. The 5 disc changer is also a waste. Who watches 5 movies in a row? I usually watch one movie then I’m done. Again, I don’t want to pay for a 5 disc changer and never, NEVER watch more than two movies in a row, which I’ve hardly ever done. The system itself cost a little more than $400 at Sears. Can you guys give me the pros and cons to having a 5 disc changer? My current surround sound and DVD player are not HD compatible and I want to upgrade for my new TV. Or if you know of a home theatre system that has a single disc DVD player and no iPod dock with tower speakers and rear wireless speakers I’d like to know.

Help me out.
Oh, by the way, the new Panasonic system I saw was 1000 watts. I want to boost my sound too.
